On April 22, Secretary-General Xu Jianguo held a work meeting with Solly Mapaila, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party. The two leaders discussed the progress of the China-South Africa Friendship "Silk Road Friends" Fountain of Prosperity Project and explored avenues for future cooperation. The meeting was also attended by the foundation's Vice Secretary-General Liu Zhenzhong.
Solly Mapaila expressed his gratitude, citing an ancient African proverb: "A true friend is one who shares with you in critical times." Since its inception, the China-South Africa Friendship "Silk Road Friends" Fountain of Prosperity Project has garnered significant attention from the local government and surrounding villagers. The project not only addresses the important issue of access to drinking water but also offers sustainable development opportunities in food security, health, poultry farming, and agriculture. Mapaila expressed his hope that this visit would allow South Africa to learn from China’s rural revitalization experience and provide valuable insights for South Africa's socialist new rural construction.
Project Manager David Bodley provided a detailed overview of the project's funding, oversight mechanisms, progress, and completion plans.
Chief Bantor Mashile, representing all the villagers in the respective project's Mpumalanga Province location, extended a warm welcome and expressed gratitude to the foundation for its supportive projects.
Xu Jianguo warmly welcomed Solly Mapaila and praised South African National Community Development Fund’s project efficiency and execution. He affirmed the foundation’s commitment to the principle of "doing our best within our capacity," pledging to actively mobilize resources to support South Africa’s socialist new rural construction projects and contribute to strengthening the “hearts and minds united” ties between China and South Africa.
