People's Daily, Yangon, January 16 (Reporter Xie Jiajun)-- On January 16, the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and its project partners hosted a donation ceremony in Yangon for the "Silk Road People-to-People Connectivity" initiative, which entailed the donation of school supplies and sports equipment to Yangjin Middle School in Yangon Division. Xu Jianguo, Secretary-General of the CFPD, and Qiao Li, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, attended the ceremony and delivered inspiring speeches. Representatives from the Myanmar-China Friendship Association, the Yangon Department of Education, UNICEF, and other organizations were also in attendance.
Xu Jianguo highlighted the significant impact of the China Peace Development Foundation's support in Myanmar, which has included the construction of 19 primary and secondary schools, 2 hospitals, and other altruistic donations. These charitable initiatives have benefited hundreds of thousands of people and have played a crucial role in enhancing China-Myanmar relations. The CFPD is committed to expanding its efforts in Myanmar, further fostering the development of a shared China-Myanmar community.
Qiao Li emphasized the profound cultural and personal ties between the people of China and Myanmar. As a friendly neighbor and brotherly nation, China has consistently maintained an amiable policy of friendship towards all Myanmar citizens, sharing all the merits of its prosperity. The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar actively encourages the cultivation of local talent that fosters mutual understanding and camaraderie between the youths of both countries. Qiao Li expressed hope that more organizations from China and Myanmar will engage in similar cultural exchanges and practical cooperation, harnessing these collective efforts to build a China-Myanmar community with a shared future that perpetuates their brotherly friendship.
Representatives from the China-Myanmar Friendship Association and the Myanmar Ministry of Education emphasized that China and Myanmar are neighbors with a long history of amicable relations. They noted that this donation exemplifies the profound friendship between the two countries, and expressed a strong desire to enhance cooperation with China, aiming to build a robust foundation of public support for China-Myanmar friendship and to further strengthen the brotherly bonds between their peoples.
Teachers from Yangon High School in Myanmar expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the Foundation’s genuineness and donations, promising to make full use of the materials donated to encourage students to excel both academically and physically, thereby laying a solid foundation for the enduring China-Myanmar friendship.
