TWO YEARS: The Silk Road Community Building Initiative Time:2022/04/02

      On May 7, China NGO Network for International Exchanges(CNIE) and China Foundation for Peace and Development(CFPD) co-hosted the second anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s letter in reply to the students and teachers of China-Laos Friendship Nongping primary school and the Silk Road Community Building Initiative in Beijing. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee attended the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Xu jianguo, secretary general of CFPD, Wang Hua, deputy secretary general of CFPD among envoys of Laos, Lebanon, Mongolia, Namibia, and Nepal among other countries to China attended the ceremony. More than 80 representatives from over 40 countries participated in the event.




Song Tao in his keynote speech expressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s letter in reply on the 29th April 2019 to the students and teachers of China-Laos Friendship Nongping Primary School. In which he encourages the students to be the successors of the China-Laos friendship and wishes it would be more “People-to-People Envoy”, like CFPD standing to devote their efforts along with the BRI countries to enhance cooperation and to benefit locals. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s letter in reply fully reflected great importance has been attached to China-Laos friendship and earnest expectation for the inheritance of China-Laos friendship down from generations. The Letter emphasized the original aspiration of realizing common development and working out a better life for locals resulted from the BRI, and speak highly of the NGOs strength in promoting people-to-people connectivity.




Song Tao pointed out that we are to comply with the utmost inspiration of the Letter replied by General Secretary Xi Jinping for deepening exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations of different countries along with the BRI, and ushering international community into realizing broad consensus of cementing construction for building a community of shared future for mankind; strengthening people-to-people exchanges and  continually consolidating friendship between the peoples of various countries along with the BRI; keeping for people as highest regard of the original aspiration, and making local peoples commonly share the fruitful results from the BRI.




Xu Jianguo remarked that President Xi Jinping’s letter in reply has extraordinarily encouraged all staffs of CFPD. We are to implement the utmost inspiration of the Letter replied by President Xi Jinping, and further to do our work better for promoting more people’s likelihood projects along with the BRI countries together with more China’s NGOs in order to benefit locals and make more contributions on enhancing peace and development of the world and realizing common prosperous to match the name worthy of “People-to-People Envoy”.






In 2019, all the students and teachers of the China-Laos Friendship Nongping Primary School wrote a letter to President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, expressing their heartfelt thanks for China’s sponsorship of the school, and willingness to participate in constructing process of the BRI. General Secretary Xi Jinping warmly replied to the letter. In the past two years, CFPD, which is under guidance of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, has deeply implemented the utmost inspiration of the Letter replied by General Secretary Xi Jinping in promoting people-to-people exchange and cooperation tightly circled around building a China-Laos common community with a shared future and enhancing people’s likelihood projects cooperation along with the BRI countries.  




The Joint Action for Silk Road Community Building Initiative was launched by China NGO Network for International Exchanges at the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in April 2019. To which it is aimed to enhance people-to-people cultural exchanges and livelihood cooperation between Chinese NGOs and other NGOs located along with the Belt and Road countries, to promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, to advance people's wellbeing of all countries, and therefore as such to realize the people-to-people common aspiration of all countries. Over the past two years, the “Joint Action for Silk Road Community Building Initiative” has carried out more than 300 livelihood cooperation projects and promoted the establishment of nearly 600 pairs for cooperative partnerships between NGOs of China and the world, as having gained high regard internationally.
