The Handover ceremony of the "Friends on the Silk Road" Teaching Building Project was held in Angkor High School, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia Time:2018/02/13

On February 4, 2018, the handover ceremony of the “Friends on the Silk Road” teaching building project was held successfully in Angkor High School in Siem Reap, Cambodia by the China Foundation for Peace and Development (the Foundation). Yu Xiaoxuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Foundation, Baubieser, Vice Governor of Siem Reap Province, and Yunay, State Secretary of the Cambodian Ministry of Education and Youth, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. More than a thousand people such as students from Angkor High School and local residents attended the ceremony.

Baubieser said that the completion of the “Friends on Silk Road” teaching building is a vivid demonstration of Cambodia’s active participation in the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the latest achievement of the friendly exchanges between China and Cambodia. On behalf of Siem Reap Province, I’d like to express sincere gratitude for this and we will use this as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with China and continue to promote the development of all social undertakings.

Yunay said that in recent years, the Foundation has provided important support in the development of Cambodian education. The Angkor High School teaching building donated by the Foundation is another vivid portrayal of the friendly cooperation between the Chinese and Cambodian peoples. I hope that in the future, we will continue to strengthen cooperation between the two sides and push for more pragmatic results.

The Angkor High School Teaching Building Project was officially signed in January 2017 and completed in October. The three-story teaching building has a total of 1,600 square meters, including 18 classrooms and an outdoor toilet. After the completion of the project, the shortage of classrooms in Angkor High School has been greatly alleviated.

The mainstream media such as the Cambodian Bayon TV actively reported on the event.
