Launching Ceremony of Philippines-China Friendship Water Pump Station Project was Held in Davao City Time：2017/02/23

On February 21, 2017, the launching ceremony of Philippines-China Friendship Water Pump Stations Project sponsored by China Foundation for Peace and Development(CFPD) was held at Barangay Tibungco on the outskirt of Davao City in the Philippines. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), who at that time was visiting the Philippines. Minister Song Tao was warmly invited to attend the ceremony and to make a keynote speech. Xu Zhensui, Secretary-General of CFPD, Nadella, the representative of Mayor of Davao City Government, Dayap, Councilor of Davao City and local community leaders as well as representatives of local villagers amounting to a total number of more than 300 people attended the ceremony.

The Tibungco’ s villagers have proactively participated in the course of the ceremony. A distance of several kilomeres away from Barangay Tibungco, the local people have spontaneously held welcoming banners and self-made China’s flags stretching out on both sides of the road. On the ceremony site, splendid art performance programs dressed in full attire which have engendered in waves of climax one another in the very friendly atmosphere. Tibungco’ s community leader on behalf of the locals remarked in his speech that China and the Philippines are neighbours and kinsfolks. Before, some Philippine media occasionally made ineloquent comments on China. Today, we Filipinos have deeply touched by CFPD’s sponsorship for the drinking water project and will cherish for this goodwill for our people. Thereafter, Minister Song Tao also presented food bags to local villagers, paid a filed visit to the project construction site and chatted amiably with the family members when calling on the households.

All of those activities have been reported by mainstream media of the Philippines, such as “Manila Bulletin” “Davao Today” “Mindanao Mirror Daily” . To which it has been rendered active and warm social response.

According to the Agreement, CFPD shall be sponsoring the Philippine side for the construction of three water pump stations project located separately at Barangay Tibungco and another two different villages on the outskirt of the Davao City. It is estimated that the drinking water issue of about 8000 people will be effectively solved, from which local people’s daily life will be made much more convienent. The project is expected to start in June 2017 and and put into use in the end of this year.
