China-Cambodia Civil Round Table Discussion Held in Cambodia Time:2016/06/15
In Phnom Penh, China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and Cambodian Institute for Strategic Studies (CISS) jointly held a civil round table discussion that themed as “Promoting Mutual Development & Sharing Construction Achievement” on June 3rd, 2016. The discussion invited representatives of civil society organizations, media, think tanks and enterprises from both China and Cambodia. And both sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China’s investment, the cooperation between Chinese and Cambodian civil society organizations and other issues under the perspective of Cambodian civil society organization. About 50 representatives attended the discussion, including those from STAR Kampuchea, NGO Forum on Cambodia, Youth for Peace, National Architecture Association, Urban Poor Women Development, Community Legal Education Center, Positive Change, Youth Resource Development Program, Cambodia Disabled People Organization, Trade Union Workers Federation, Life with Dignity, Khmer Times, BTV, Apsara News, Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia,Confucius Institute at Royal Academy of Cambodia, ZTE HK(Cambodia), South East Asia Telecom(Cambodia), CRBC Cambodia,Cambodia-China Friendship Radio as a total of 40 organizations. Tan Qingsheng, Charge d’ Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia attended the discussion and delivered a speech in the discussion.
On June 5th, CFPD held another civil round table discussion in Siep Reap in collaboration with NGO Forum on Cambodia. We have had an in-depth and candid discussion about suggestions from Cambodian civil society organizations towards the development of China-Cambodia relationship. 20 representatives attended the discussion, including those from Buddhism for Development, Fisheries Action Coalition Team, Transparency International, Community Translation Organization, Life and Hope Association, Federation for Integated Development of Agriculture in Cambodia, World Vision, Human Resource and Rural Economic Development Organization, Confucius Institute at Angkor Secondary School of Siem Reap.
